An oil catch can is essential to protect the engine from elevated levels of crankcase blow-by accumulated during aggressive driving. Excess oil-saturated air circulating back into the intake stream degrades performance, promotes sludge buildup, and reduces engine longevity. This kit covers the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) circuit on the Subaru BRZ, Toyota 86, and Scion FR-S.
The Radium catch can features large 10AN ORB ports, a 4AN ORB drain port, 2-step oil separation baffling, and an O-ring sealed dipstick. The kit does not vent to atmosphere (VTA) — making it emissions compliant and track legal. The closed-loop design routes clean filtered air back through the engine to promote negative crankcase pressure for optimal performance and prevents oil vapours from entering the cabin.

How It Works — PCV Circuit:
This catch can runs inline with the 3/8" PCV valve on the RH side of the engine bay. When intake manifold pressure is close to or greater than atmospheric pressure, the PCV check valve closes and the hose experiences no flow. During idle, steady-state cruising, and deceleration, the PCV hose experiences metered vacuum — which would normally draw crankcase vapour, unspent fuel, and oil sludge directly into the intake manifold. The Radium catch can intercepts and collects these contaminants before they reach the engine. Pressure-sealed design also suits boosted applications.
