Sometimes your pet’s joints may need a bit of support to maintain their flexibility and mobility, particularly those with an active lifestyle, older animals or ones with stiff joints. Time, exercise and previous problems in the joint can affect the cartilage, which acts as a cushion between the bones in a joint, and the synovial fluid which lubricates a joint–both are important to keep joints functioning well. Glucosamine & Chondroitin Tablets help the body to manufacture the necessary building blocks of cartilage and the synovial membrane (which produces synovial fluid) to help support joint health.

Why Dorwest Glucosamine & Chondroitin Tablets? The correct ratio: Glucosamine and chondroitin are the perfect partners when combined in a joint supplement for dogs and cats as they have a synergistic effect, meaning they have more effect when given together than alone. However, it is important that they are given in the correct ratio to be most beneficial-there needs to be twice the amount of glucosamine to chondroitin. Our Glucosamine & Chondroitin Tablets each contain 400mg of glucosamine and200mg of chondroitin. Easily absorbed: There are two types of glucosamine you may see in supplements; glucosamine sulphate and glucosamine hydrochloride. Glucosamine sulphate is more commonly used in human supplements, but we use glucosamine hydrochloride as hydrochlorides are quickly absorbed in the gastrointestinaltract (within 15–30 minutes). So, for dogs and cats who have a short digestive tract and therefore a short transit time for nutrients to be absorbed, this is particularly important.

Sustainable sources: Because our impact on the environment is so important to us here at Dorwest, both ingredients are from sustainable sources, from shellfish such as crabs and crustaceans and most definitely not from sharks. We use glucosamine hydrochloride obtained from the shells of crustaceans, usually a mixture of shrimp, oyster and crab shells, making use of something that would otherwise be discarded. The chondroitin we use is sourced from squid cartilage as another by-product of the food industry.
