The original artwork is a 20x30” acrylic painting on a gallery thick, 1.5” hand-stretched canvas.

I shot the reference photos for this piece on a sunny afternoon after hastily pulling over to the side of the road in front of a cow pasture. I'd been searching for some good looking cows for a while as I was building references for a commission painting, and these ones fit the bill. I used a handful of those images to build the sky and the orientation of the group of bovines, my favourite being the little baby on the far right.
