Description:
A superb oboe player who runs light! Thomas Indermühle is a Swiss-born oboist and a favorite pupil of Heinz Holliger. After working as a solo oboist with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, he now performs as a soloist all over the world. He is well known to Japanese fans for his recordings of the complete oboe concertos of Vivaldi and the premiere of Akira Nishimura's oboe concerto "Karura," as well as his annual visits to Japan as a lecturer at the Kusatsu Summer International Music Academy & Festival. She has further developed the potential of the oboe, which has made great strides thanks to her teacher Holliger's innovative playing method, and freely manipulates the circular breathing method, playing difficult pieces based on famous melodies from Italian opera with a lightness of touch that belies her superb technique.
